Pressure Points Used For Fighting
Pressure points used for fighting do
exist, but they're pretty much impractical because the person
fighting against you won't be standing still like for
you like some big convenient acupuncture dummy.
He'll be punching or kicking at you, or trying
to crash tackle you to the ground. Maybe he even has a
weapon!
So while the human body does have heaps of
pressure points or nerve centers, they are very hard to get at
when you're trying to hit a moving target. Some would say
impossible...
Your best bet is to target the larger
vulnerable areas, such as your opponent's knee and elbow
joints. It's not difficult to cause a dislocation or a break,
and that will pretty much stop the fight - unless the attacker
is impervious to pain. This can happen when a person's
high on adrenalin and certain drugs, such as PCP or 'Angel
Dust'.
If you're rolling on the ground or in a close
clinch you may be able to poke at his eyes or hit his groin,
but he can just as easily do the same to you.
The throat area is dangerously
vulnerable to being hit or squeezed. So I'd avoid it. But
there's a lovely hollow in the sides of the neck, just under
the earlobe. Push your fingertips or thumbs in there. That will
loosen his grip, at the very least.
You can also jab a finger down into the V of
his neck, just above his sternum and collar bone. That's a
great one for getting someone to let go of you in a hurry, and
I used to teach it to my students as a release from a front
choke or strangle. Push your thumbs or fingers in there and
watch him yelp. Or spear your stiffened fingertips up and deep
into his armpits.
You can push your fingers or thumbs into an
attacker's eyes, or rake your nails across his eyeballs.
Since this can blind him, maybe permanently,
you'd only do it to save your life, or to stop yourself being
raped. And expect to be sued afterwards if there's the
slightest doubt you could have done something less harmful.
Sometimes it's more sensible to go for
the parts that hurt but which won't kill or maim...
Like a good kick to his ankle... or scrape the side of your
shoe all the way down his shins. That takes off the skin and,
boy, does that hurt!
You want to disable him, but only long enough
for you to escape to safety. And this way, you're less likely
to end up playing The Defendant in a court of criminal law.
