Self Defence Techniques

Self defence techniques are quick and dirty responses to nasty situations. They have nothing to do with fancy martial arts techniques.

Self defence should be kept as simple as possible. (It's the K-I-S-S principle... Keep It Simple, Stupid.)

I'm not saying anyone is stupid. But I think it is stupid to make any self-defence technique complicated... because people forget. They lose co-ordination when they're under stress.

Go take a self defense course so you can learn from an instructor and practise with a partner.

You want to do some releases, where your partner grabs at you. Learn to break an attacker's grip when they try to sieze you by the wrist or crush you with a bear hug. These are all vital self defence techniques.

What STRESS Does To You

Your self defence moves have to be few and very simple, otherwise your brain goes to jelly when someone attacks you and you're under extreme stress. You won't remember any fancy moves at all.

Learn how to escape a choke or a strangle from the front or behind, and how to avoid being punched, kicked or clubbed, maybe even stabbed.

Learn some of these basic self defence techniques, and remember them. Practise them from time to time with your partner or a good friend.
