Self Defense Techniques
Self Defense techniques are not the same as
martial arts stunts. Self defense techniques are about being
able to walk home in one piece.
And if that means 'backing down' from a challenge, or even
running away, you should do it. Because self defense techniques
are about your survival, not your pride. Always run when you
can.
Self defense techniques are not about keeping your wallet if
that's all a mugger wants. If he's armed and he only wants your
money, give it to him!
If you really want to bet your life that you can
overpower him, go ahead and bet your life. But realize
that's exactly what you're doing.
How much money is in the wallet?
Say, fifty dollars. Maybe a couple of
hundred...
So what? Would you bet your life for a couple of
hundred dollars, or even ten thousand dollars? You
can always get more if you're alive and healthy,
can't you? |
Remember then that self defense techniques are
about staying in one piece. No pride, no
glory.
Self Defense =
Survival
Now if you know the assailant is planning to
kill you, you must fight. The same applies if you're up against
a rapist. Then you have to fight back, tooth and nail.
Now there are no rules. Get close. Inflict damage. Bite his
nose, neck, ears. Rake his eyes with your fingers. Poke with
your thumbs. Knee his groin. Stab your bunched fingers into his
armpit. Kick his shins and his kneecaps. Stun him with your
anger! Knock him down. Do damage. Run to safety, or better
still, walk swiftly. If you walk you are less likely to trip
over in your haste to get away.
