Kenji Tomiki was a master of Judo and Aikido, and blended his knowledge of both to create Shodokan Aikido.

Tomiki style Aikido was named after Kenji Tomiki Sensei. It is now known as Shodokan Aikido, because that is the name of Tomiki’s home dojo in Osaka.
